General Manager – Purdey at The Royal Berkshire Shooting School (this is based: Hook End Lane Pangbourne, Reading RG8 8SD)
The General Manager will be responsible for the operational management of PRB with the aim of developing its overall long term business performance and further cementing its reputation as a leading venue for shooting excellence and client entertainment. The role is be responsible for developing the long-term strategy and ensure the business is aligned with our vision to deliver economic, social and environmental value to all its key stakeholders. This role will also be responsible for the redevelopment and upgrade of the site. The person will have overall accountability all Commercial, Operational, Financial, Customer Service and Quality aspects, along with strong leadership skills.
The successful candidate will possess proven client facing, operational and financial skills (budgeting and P&L management) and will be capable of putting forward compelling and robust business cases for review and discussion.
You have may experience within ‘fast moving consumer goods’ (FMCG) or in a sporting, leisure and / or hospitality context and must be dynamic, innovative and astute in their dealings. Experience of the
shooting industry would be a significant advantage but is not a prerequisite.
The candidate must be natural communicator who enjoys presenting and hosting, the appointee will act as a key point of contact for all of Purdey’s major stakeholders with the aim of enhancing its brand and reputation. It is key that the candidate has a strong sales motivation and leadership skills with a smaller business, entrepreneurs mindset. The ambassadorial nature of the role will require excellent relationship management skills.
